Reminders
BOAT LIFTS NEED PERMITS
You do need to submit a request to the Lake Office if you want to install a boat lift. The cost for a permit is $35. For people renting an association dock, please contact the office before purchasing your lift because it may not fit into the area where your dock is located. No dock lifts will be permitted in Bay 3.PHOSPHORUS FERTILIZERS BANNED
Phosphorus entering our water costs us all a great deal. Phosphorus, when run-off into our lake, fertilizes the lake floor and promotes weed growth. Additionally, this contaminant will promote algae blooms resulting in our lake water turning green. The consequences include greater cost for treating the lake water and eventual dredging, stunted fish growth and level of reproduction, and ultimately reducing the recreational benefits of the lake.The Board of Directors has chosen to follow the guidelines established by Minnesota law. This law allows for an exception to the ban provided that certain conditions are met:
1) An owner is attempting to landscape a new lawn after completing construction;
2) An owner can provide testing results from samples of soil indicating a deficiency in phosphorus levels. Each exception will be decided on a case by case basis. All owners who are granted an exception must place a silt barrier in a manner to prevent the lawn fertilizers from being washed outside of the property.
Additional measures for preventing phosphorus contamination into the lake are:
1. Keep leaves and grass clippings out of your gutters, driveways, streets and drainage ditches.
2. Prevent soil erosion and bare spots around your property. Soil run-off carries phosphorus with it.
3. Keep all drainage culverts clear of debris. 4. Always properly dispose of any lawn care chemicals and their containers.
TEMPORARY TRAILER STORAGE
In October, 2010, the Board approved allowing trailer storage in the Temporary Boat Storage Area from May 1st to September 1st for $25.00. All trailers must be clearly marked with a lot number and paid prior to being stored. If you have any questions, please contact the Lake Mohawk Office at 330-863-1031.ASSOCIATION OWNED DOCKS
According to the Lake Mohawk Property Owners Association, Inc. Rules and Regulations, Article XII, Section 12: When a slip is registered to a particular lot and the ownership of the lot changes, the lease agreement becomes void and the slip reverts back to LMPOA. The slip is non-transferable. No association owned docking can be sold, leased or transferred to the new property owner or any other owner by anyone other than the LMPOA. This is just a reminder that if you lease a dock from the Association, you are not permitted to lease it to anyone else.BOAT & JET SKI TITLE INFO
All boats over 14’ and all jet skis must be titled in the property owner’s name. If you do not have a title, you will need to obtain one from the title bureau. The following information needs to be taken with you in order for them to issue a title: length, make of motor, motor ID number, horsepower, year and HIN number.
RESERVING PICNIC PAVILIONS
Because there is such a high demand for the use of the picnic pavilions, please remember you do need to contact the office to make reservations and complete the necessary paperwork. The Main Beach pavilion is sectioned off into 5 sections. The West Beach pavilion is not sectioned off: If you reserve it, you get the whole pavilion. Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. You can start reserving after you have paid your dues beginning March 1st. We will not be taking reservations the holiday dates of July 4 or July 7. If you would like a picnic table in any of the pavilions for either of those dates, you will need to arrive early and stake your claim to a table.
Important Docking Information - Renters
For all property owners who rent an association dock, the docking fee of $100 was billed on December 1, 2011 and was payable by January 1, 2012. If the docking payment was not received by January 1, you no longer have a dock. Also, please remember that all dues payments must be received by April 1 for the property owner to keep their dock and you must pay a boat sticker fee for each dock. Thank you in advance for your timely payments.
